Custom English Walnut Bar Top

Project Description
We had long decided that we wanted to improve our kitchen and with a new home we found the perfect design to add our custom bar top to a kitchen island. Then my sister fell a large English Walnut at her home in Hillsboro Oregon some 240 miles away and off we went with the mill to turn it into slabs for our project (and others). Once milled we dried the lumber for a year in both the open air and a sorta solar kiln (really a greenhouse with a dehydrator). Once the lumber was low enough I was able to plane the slabs and turn them into this amazing bar top that is now the focal point of our awesome kitchen!

Finished Dimensions
Spanning over 14 feet from tip to tip and measuring from 18 inches wide to 22 inches wide with a total linear area of 18 feet.
