Ainsworth Zeagler
Project Description
Pictured here is "Stoopto Hollow" - a unique pond house, show room and “man cave” - was designed and built by Ainsworth Zeagler, owner of Zeagler Farms Handcrafted Flooring, Inc. This structure that lies on a 40’x60’ deck is a heavy timber-framed 24’x46’ pond house sitting 100 feet out into a 60+ acre irrigation pond. The structure took two years to complete; mainly on weekends. Because of the location, no equipment was used in erecting the structure. Every piece of the structure was cut on a Woodmizer LT-40 Hydraulic. The framing, beams, ceiling material, bar top and flooring are all Southern Yellow Pine. The flooring and bar top are the Long Leaf Heart Pine variety of Southern Yellow Pine. The tables, chairs, and front door, however, are made out of light, but sturdy, Poplar wood. The tree trunks supporting the center beam are from a tree that had been at the bottom of the pond since 1980. The root system from that tree was made into the light that hangs from the center beam.
The main purpose of the Stoopto Hollow Project was to build a showroom to show off all of the different things Zeagler Farms Handcrafted Flooring, Inc. can make. From start to finish, every part of the process is done by hand – from sawing the logs up, to hand-hewning the ends and edges of each board, to staining and finishing each board by hand. We specialize in wide plank, random width design flooring, with boards reaching up to 16 inches in width. www.zeaglerfhf.com
